State Organizer

Position: Part Time
Salary: Commensurate with experience

Description:
Recruit and empower consumers, organizations and individuals to become involved in health access issues, organize publicity and education events; and document consumer experiences accessing health care.

Functions:

1. Collect and document testimonies from individuals and groups about barriers and experiences accessing health care. Identify individuals who are willing to share stories with press and other policy makers.

2. Identify and prepare consumers to meet with legislators and other policymakers and engage in other civic engagement activities.

3. Identify organizational partners and assist Florida CHAIN staff to engage them in the advocacy activities of the organization.

4. Coordinate public screenings of health care documentaries

5. Assist in the coordination of public forums

6. Assist individuals and groups by providing them with information and referrals about health access.

7. Participate in organizational planning with regular updates

8. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and relevant to support the overall mission of Florida

Travel Requirements:
Traveling throughout the state might be required for up to 30% of working hours. Valid driver’s license and insurance required.

Skills and Experience:

Background in community organizing
Excellent verbal, written and public speaking skills
Some knowledge of health policy or social services
